NANAIMO — Police are reaching out to the public in a bid to locate a man wanted on multiple charges.

David Arlen Thomas, 31, faces charges of assault with a weapon and being unlawfully in a dwelling after incidents in early June which involved Thomas’ ex-girlfriend.

Mounties said at the time Thomas allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s north Nanaimo home multiple times, chasing her with bear spray on one occasion.

“Although this incident occurred over 4 years ago, investigators are still searching for Thomas and have reason to believe that he is in the Nanaimo area,” Reserve Cst. Gary O’Brien said in a statement released Monday, Nov. 4.

At the time of the break-in, Thomas was also facing break and breach of probation charges from incidents in late March.

O’Brien said in 2020, Thomas’ violence was escalating.

“We know he’s evading police, we believe there’s people helping him in the community and we need to find him.”

Thomas is described as 5’7″ tall, around 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

He also has a tattoo on his outer left forearm which reads “INDIAN”.

Thomas is considered violent and should not be approached. He also has a considerable criminal history dating back to 2013.

Anyone with information as to his whereabouts should contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250 754 2345.
