Candidate field set for mid-Island ridings ahead of provincial election

NANAIMO — The list of candidates vying for an election in the upcoming provincial election is now official.

A deadline set by Elections BC passed at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 for candidates to submit official paperwork to be included on the ballot for the Oct. 19 provincial election.

Across B.C., 323 candidates will be on ballots in 93 ridings, with both the BC Conservatives and BC NDP running candidates in every area of the province.

The BC Greens will compete in 69 ridings, including the four on central Vancouver Island, while a further 54 candidates are listed as unattached or independent.

A full list of official candidates for the four central Vancouver Island ridings is below:

Laura Ferreira (BC Greens)
Stephanie Higginson (BC NDP)
Adam Walker (Independent)

Mid-Island Pacific Rim
Adam Hayduk (BC Conservative)
Josie Osborne (BC NDP)
Ross Reid (BC Greens)

Advance voting runs from Oct. 10 to Oct. 16, with exception to Oct. 14 (Thanksgiving), from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., while eligible voters can also go to any District electoral office between now and Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. to cast their ballot.

Mail-in ballots are available through Elections BC until Oct. 13.
