NANAIMO — For the second time in four games the Clippers suffered a 1-0 shutout loss.

The division leading Surrey Eagles skated away with the win thanks to a late second period goal by Aaron Schwartz.

Both Nanaimo’s Chazz Nixon and Surrey’s Ajeet Gundarah were excellent in net facing 34 shots each.

The game was largely played five on five with each team only getting one power play opportunity.

After a three week break Nanaimo and Surrey will play four times head to head in the month of March.

The games are in Surrey March 2, in Nanaimo March 8 and 10 and back in Surrey again on March 22.

Before the game the Clippers made some personnel changes with Remi Gelinas joining the club from Powell River and Jack Edwards being moved off the roster.

Nanaimo takes on Victoria on the road on Feb. 10 at 6 p.m.

The Clippers head in to the matchup with a one point lead on the Grizzlies for fourth place in the Coastal Division standings.
