NANAIMO — BC Ferries are hoping to transform some of their major terminals to streamline the check-in and boarding process.

In an application sent to the British Columbia Ferries Commissioner, BC Ferries is proposing a multi-million dollar construction project to improve five of their most used terminals.

Affected terminals are Departure Bay and Duke Point in Nanaimo, along with Horseshoe Bay, Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay.

According to a release, BC Ferries said this application will help reduce ticketing and check-in wait times, provide a contactless journey for foot passengers and also include an express lane check-in at terminals for pre-paid reserved customers travelling in vehicles.
