QUALICUM BEACH — The Town’s 45th annual Family Day celebrations are getting some drop-in visitors.

As part of the event scheduled to run all day on Sunday, May 28 in Qualicum Beach, there will be a performance from the SkyHawks, the Canadian Armed Forces parachute team.

“The SkyHawks thrilling performance of daring manoeuvres brings their parachutes in close proximity to each other and requires a high level of skill, teamwork, and physical fitness,” a release from the team read.

They’ll take to the sky around 12:30 p.m. and onlookers can expect to see them perform for around 30 minutes above the fields behind Ravensong Aquatic Centre on Jones St.

Fourteen members of the team are set to take part, from various wings of the Canadian Armed Forces including Army, Navy and Air Force.

Both regular and reserve members are part of the SkyHawks.

Other events planned for Family Day in Qualicum Beach include a pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., a parade down Primrose St., Second Ave. and Jones St. beginning at 12 p.m., then activities, entertainment and a free swim at Ravensong through the afternoon and evening.

Food vendors will also be dotted around the event.

More information, including a full schedule of live entertainment, is available on the Town’s website.
