Goaltenders put on a show in Clippers 3-2 overtime loss to Grizzlies

NANAIMO — Goalies Oliver Auyeung-Ashton and Aidan Campbell made several highlight reel saves in tight 3-2 overtime battle won by the Victoria Grizzlies.

Auyeung-Ashton made 34 saves for the win and Campbell was strong with 29 saves despite the loss.

Olivier Picard and Kai Daniells traded first period markers, with Daniells getting his 30th goal of the season for the Clippers,

Charles Tardif put Nanaimo ahead on a rebound goal late in the second frame, but Victoria came back to tie it halfway through the third on a goal by Devon deVries.

The Clippers killed off a shorthanded situation late in regulation time and into overtime but Owen Bohn converted an opportunity late in the three on three session to give the Grizzlies the victory.

Nanaimo went 0/1 on the man advantage and 3/3 killing penalties while they dropped to 3-1-1 in their season series versus the Grizzlies.

The two rivals have two head to head games remaining on March 11 and 25 both at the Q Centre.

Up next the Clippers visit the Cowichan Valley Capitals on March 3 at 7 p.m.
