Pair of goals by Keighan Gerrie lead Clippers over Chiefs 2-1 in OT

NANAIMO — Keighan Gerrie started and ended the scoring in the Clippers 2-1 overtime victory over Chilliwack.

Gerrie scored ten minutes into the game before Mateo Mrsic tied the score on a power play late in the first period.

From there the Clippers Cooper Black and the Chiefs Grant Riley shut the door until the extra period.

Black stopped 35 shots while Riley made 31 saves in the contest.

Gerrie’s shot from the slot halfway through sudden death overtime gave Nanaimo the 2-1 win and a 3-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Each team had three power plays in the game with Mrsic’s goal coming on a four on three man advantage.

The April 18 three stars were 1) Keighan Gerrie 2) Cooper Black 3) Grant Riley.

Nanaimo has won all seven of their playoff games in 2022 and have a chance to advance to the Coastal Division final with a win in Game 4 on April 19.
