NANAIMO — The Clippers suffered their first regulation loss since Feb. 26 in a 3-2 setback to Coquitlam.

The Clippers led 1-0 on Keighan Gerrie’s 13th goal of the season after the first period.

Coquitlam equalized in the middle frame with a late goal by Ray Hamlin.

Also in the second Nanaimo’s Tristan Fraser was assessed a major penalty for a blow to the head and a game misconduct.

The Clippers killed the penalty which turned into a five on three against for a minute and 39 seconds.

Sean Donaldson gave Nanaimo the lead early in the final period but late goals by Matthew Campbell and Ryan Tattle secured the Express victory.

The Clippers were outshot 33-24 in the game and neither team scored on a pair of power play chances.

Cooper Black took the loss in net with Carter Woodside grabbing the win for Coquitlam.

Nanaimo remains in second place in the Coastal Division with one game remaining on the schedule.

They can still finish anywhere from second to fourth in the division.

The Clippers regular season finale is March 25 against the Victoria Grizzlies.
