Snowbirds returning to Vancouver Island for final prep ahead of summer touring season
NANAIMO — Expect the familiar roar of in-formation flying to come to eastern Vancouver Island in the near future.
The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will begin their trek westward to base out of the Comox Valley for spring training on April 19.
Capt. Gabriel Ferris, public affairs officer for the Snowbirds, said they’ll depart their year-round home in Moose Jaw in search of warmer weather and some last minute training.
“We’re a little bit late in our training schedule because of all the weather we’ve had here. We had a lot of icy runways, blowing snow, just bad visibility with a lot of wind and cold weather in Moose Jaw.”
