Clippers continue dominance over the Kings with 5-1 win

NANAIMO — The Clippers won their third straight game overall and fifth in a row against the Kings with a 5-1 decision over Powell River.

Nanaimo broke open a 1-1 tie in the second period with three straight goals in the middle frame.

They would add another in the third period to cruise to the win.

Five different players hit the score sheet with Andrew Noel, Tristan Fraser, Walker Erickson, Alex Johnston and Max Itagaki providing the offence.

Johnston scored in his first game with his new team and Erickson also tallied his first goal as a Clipper.

Cooper Black made 21 saves to record his league leading 12th victory.

The shots were 36-22 for Nanaimo with the Clippers going 1/6 on the power play and 2/2 on the penalty kill.

Nanaimo has now finished the first third of the BCHL season with a 12-6 record and they sit in second place in the Coastal Division.

The same two clubs will battle at the Hap Parker Arena in Powell River on Nov. 27 at 7 p.m.
