NANAIMO — The Clippers mastery over the Powell River Kings continued with a 3-2 victory on Oct. 16.

Nanaimo has a 4-0 record against the Kings to open the season, the only team they have faced so far.

Coming into the contest the Clippers had won the first three matchups by a combined score of 18-4 but the fourth game was a different story.

After building up a 3-0 lead through 40 minutes the Clippers surrendered a shorthanded goal and a power play goal in the final period.

It was the first time Nanaimo had to fight through significant adversity to win a game this season.

The Clippers played strong shutdown hockey in the last half of the third period and Cooper Black continued his strong play with 28 total saves.

Sean Donaldson led the offence with a goal and an assist and Tristan Fraser and Alex Morozoff also scored for Nanaimo.

The shots finished 30-30 with the Clippers going 1/3 on the power play and 3/4 on the penalty kill.

At the conclusion of the night’s action on Oct. 16 Nanaimo was one of only four BCHL teams without a loss in regulation or overtime.

The Clippers now move on to the BCHL Showcase to play Salmon Arm on Oct. 21 and Coquitlam on Oct. 22.
