South Island drives sizeable COVID-19 case increase throughout Island Health
NANAIMO — Island Health has sustained a significant jump in COVID-19 cases.
A total of 89 new cases were recorded for the health authority on Thursday, Sept. 16, one of the largest increases of the fourth wave.
The southern Vancouver Island area of the health authority accounted for 57 of the new cases Thursday, with 30 from the central Island and two in the north.
Active cases jumped by 50, to 581, including 258 on the central Island. Again, the south Island saw a large increase and is now home to the most number of active COVID-19 cases in Island Health with 262.
