MONTREAL — Survivors and families of victims of the 2006 Dawson College shooting are warning voters against picking the Conservatives in the Sept. 20 federal election.

The appeal comes on the 15th anniversary of the mass shooting at the Montreal junior college, which took the life of 18-year-old Anastasia De Sousa and injured 19 others.

Survivors and victims’ families said today in a news release voters should instead pick the Liberals or the Bloc Québécois, adding that the election will be decisive for gun control.

The Conservative party platform includes a section about repealing a May 2020 Liberal cabinet order that banned 1,500 makes of semi-automatic firearms, but that section has been amended since the election document was released.
