PARKSVILLE — A woman has a couple of strangers to thank for potentially saving her life.

The 74-year-old tourist from Ontario was found floating in the water off the north end of McMillan St., behind the Beach Club Resort around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3.

Oceanside RCMP Sgt. Stephen Rose told NanaimoNewsNOW, two people walking by on the boardwalk spotted her.

“They happened upon her when they saw her floating unresponsive then they jumped into action and brought her to shore. It was great they were able to keep themselves safe while providing assistance to the woman.”

The woman was revived, however CPR was not required. Rose said she was alert and stabilized by the time emergency crews arrived.
