Nanaimo Real Estate Market Report: January 2021
NANAIMO – Lack of inventory continues to plague Nanaimo buyers, a trend typical across much of Vancouver Island.
In January, 286 single-family detached properties (excluding acreage and waterfront) sold compared to 172 last year. A 46 per cent increase even though sales dropped by 26 per cent from December.
This decrease in sales can be attributed to a lack of inventory, not a lack of buyers. Active listings of single-family detached properties were virtually the same as the previous month.
The average sale price for Nanaimo single-family homes was $726,764 which is 10 per cent higher than December 2020 and 22 per cent higher than January 2020.
