Duck Patterson
Biography:
I am 68 years old, born and raised on Vancouver Island and a resident of Ladysmith for the past 45 years. Local residents probably know me best as the voice of Light Up, our Christmas season celebration, which I’ve emceed for 30 years.
I have served as a Ladysmith Town Councillor for 32 years, including the last 30 in a row. This places me in a hands-on position to listen to and address the needs of my community and most communities across the province, everything from replacing broken streetlights to municipal delivery of provincial government programs like First Nation concerns, homeless shelters, opioid issues and many other functions downloaded by both provincial and federal governments.
My work for the betterment of the community also includes 4-year membership in Kinsmen and the local projects they support, as well as contributing to broad-based local initiatives like Festival of Lights, Ladysmith Days, Show ‘n Shine, Cops for Cancer, fundraisers for new playgrounds and more.
