Island Health avoids new COVID-19 cases for third straight day

NANAIMO — The number of COVID-19 cases within Island Health remains steady.

No new cases were announced within the health authority on Thursday, Sept. 24. This is the third straight day of no new cases — the first time since late July when no new cases were confirmed within a three day period.

The longest period with no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Island Health area was from May 8 to June 19.

A total of 203 people within the Island Health region have contracted COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
