NANAIMO — The number of total COVID-19 cases on Vancouver Island is holding firm.

A joint statement from provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and health minister Adrian Dix listed the number of Vancouver Island cases at 133 as of Wednesday. It rose to that number on Tuesday, July 7 with the addition of one older case of a person who’d already recovered.

The most recent data from the BC CDC showed there are currently two active cases of COVID-19 on the Island.

Across B.C., the statement confirmed 18 new cases, which is the largest one day increase since June 24.
