Clippers open playoffs with 6-3 win over Bulldogs

NANAIMO – Josh Bourne and Ethan Scardina both had two goals and one assist to lead the Clippers to a 6-3 win over Alberni Valley.

Bourne got the Clippers off to a great start with a goal to the glove side of Jackson Glassford just over a minute into the game.

The Bulldogs tied the score thanks to a marker in tight by Isaac Pascoal.

Clippers captain Ethan Scardina gave the home team a lead at the intermission break with another tally on the glove side late in the first.

Steven Agriogianis put Nanaimo in front 3-1 in the second period before a pair of fortunate bounces for Jacob Bosse evened the score at 3-3.

Clippers MVP Jordan Naylor didn’t give anything up the rest of the night and then Nanaimo’s offense went to work.

Bourne and Scardina both scored highlight reel goals before the end of the second period to vault the Clippers into a 5-3 lead.

Josh Bourne and Ethan Scardina scored to break open a 3-3 tie en route to the Clippers 6-3 win over the Bulldogs.

Tim Washe added some insurance in the third period to solidify the win.

Nanaimo outshot Alberni 29-28. The Clippers went 0/3 on the power play and 4/4 killing penalties.

Game 2 goes Saturday Feb. 29 at Frank Crane Arena with the Clippers looking to take control of the series.

Games 3 and 4 will be played on Mar. 3 and Mar. 5 at Weyerhauser Arena in Port Alberni.
