Nanaimo’s newest millionaire has eyes set on $16,000 fridge

NANAIMO — The Harbour City’s newest millionaire has an unconventional big ticket item planned after winning a recent Lotto 6/49 draw.

Curtis Wright matched all ten numbers in the Saturday, Feb. 15 draw to win the $1 million prize.

Wright told the BCLC he plans to buy a luxury fridge.

“I have it all picked out, it’s a $16,000 fridge that I’ve wanted for a while,” Wright said, who bought the ticket from the ESSO convenience store on Uplands Dr.

Wright said he bought the ticket only 10 or 15 minutes before the draw.

He intends to take a measured approach with his big win by putting the rest of the prize into savings.

Wright becomes the 15th person in Nanaimo to win a BC Lottery Corporation prize worth $500,000 or more since 2012.
