Nanaimo police seek suspect after store employee assaulted

NANAIMO — Police are looking for a suspect accused of assaulting a north Nanaimo store employee and threatening to stab him.

Nanaimo RCMP said the employee confronted the suspect for allegedly stealing $1,500 worth of merchandise from the business on Saturday, Jan 11 at around 6 p.m.

The business wishes not to identified.

The victim reported to police he was punched several times, then threatened with a knife, which left the 26-year-old shaken.

Police said a knife was never seen but was implied to be in the suspects pocket.

He’s described as a white man in his late 30’s, with greying brown hair. He was wearing a large khaki sweater and blue jeans at the time.
