Challenging market fast-tracks forestry company’s winter closure
NANAIMO — Vancouver Island’s battered forestry sector has been dealt another blow.
Mosaic Forest Management announced their operations are shutting down ahead of its usual winter closure due to what the company called “challenging pricing and market conditions.”
Operations will be halted on Monday, Nov. 25, which communications manager Pam Agnew said will affect 2,000 workers across the B.C. coast.
“We are closely monitoring the situation and look forward to restarting production when the market outlook improves,” Agnew said.
