NANAIMO – First place sounds pretty good for the Clippers organization.

With the BCHL season now one third completed, Nanaimo is alone at the top of the Island Division with a 13-6-1-1 record.

The team is two points up on the second place Cowichan Valley Capitals with one game in hand.

Nanaimo started a six game home stand on Nov. 1 and skated away with a 3-1 victory over Alberni Valley.

Tim Washe had two goals in the game and Travis Walton provided the winner.

Two goals in a 57 second span of the third period broke a 1-1 tie and acted as a springboard to the Clipper win.

On Sunday Nov. 3 Nanaimo blanked Powell River 6-0.

It marked the third consecutive time the Clippers had shutout the Kings this season with the aggregate score now sitting at 12-0.

Jordan Naylor made 36 saves for the shutout, his third clean sheet of the season, all against Powell River.

Naylor is first in the league with a 1.38 goals against average. He also has a league-best .956 save percentage, and he’s tied for the shutout lead with three.

Ethan Scardina was the catalyst for the Clippers offense against the Kings with two goals in the Nov. 3 victory, just a day after celebrating his 19th birthday.
