Community cleans litter from Nanaimo streets and trails
NANAIMO — Community-minded groups were out in full force in June cleaning up litter in their neighbourhood.
Eight groups took part in this years Cleaner Community program. Roughly 100 people worked together to gather between 25 and 30 bags of trash from approximately 50 km. of Nanaimo streets and trails.
It’s actually less garbage than what was picked up over the same space in previous years.
“I was pleasantly surprised,” sanitation, recycling and public works manager David Thompson told NanaimoNewsNOW.
