Serious charges delay release for father of missing Nanaimo teen
NANAIMO — The father of a missing Nanaimo teenager will have to wait longer to join the search for his daughter.
Kerry Chang, 49, was scheduled to be released from a Victoria jail on Saturday, however, he’s facing serious new charges and will remain behind bars.
Fresh charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement have been laid against Chang in relation to alleged incidents in Nanaimo last November.
On Friday, a Provincial Court Judge told Chang he’s scheduled to appear in Court via video on Tuesday, adding attempts will be made to arrange a bail hearing.
