Nanaimo father identified as driver killed in Malahat crash
NANAIMO — A Nanaimo man is being identified as the driver killed in a crash on the Malahat Highway.
West Shore RCMP said a man in his mid-30s was pronounced dead at the scene when a southbound sewage truck collided with an SUV around 8:10 a.m. on Aug. 22 on the Malahat near Goldstream Provincial Park.
Via a GoFundMe page, family identified the driver of the DBL Disposal truck as Nanaimo’s Jonathan Seidel.
“Jonathan leaves behind his loving wife Randa Seidel and his beautiful two-month-old daughter Hazel…I’m starting this go fund me to help with funeral, life and baby expenses,” the post said, adding it was created by Seidel’s sister Jennifer Kurucz.
