HGTV corrects listing

With multiple watch parties planned throughout Port Alberni, HGTV finally fixed the listing on the guide channel.

Many people said they felt deceived by Hometown Takeover producers after seeing the ad line “Canada’s worst town gets an underdog comeback shot”, referencing a damaging article in Toronto-based Money Magazine a decade ago.

After a week of online complaints and pressure from local leaders, the message was changed yesterday to read: “an overlooked town in Canada gets a major comeback shot”.

The 8-episode series premieres this Sunday at 5pm on HGTV, and will be shown for free at the KCC and the Station Taphouse.
