One person stabbed after altercation near Nanaimo City Hall
NANAIMO — One person was taken to hospital after a stabbing near Nanaimo City Hall.
Emergency crews were called to the Nanaimo Wellness and Recovery Centre at 250 Albert St., an overdose prevention site, around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, to reports of a stabbing.
Nanaimo RCMP Reserve Cst. Gary O’Brien said police didn’t have a lot of information when they arrived on scene and found a man injured nearby.
“He was taken to hospital with what’s believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. A description of the assailant was provided, and that person was not on scene. Members swarmed the area, and about 30 minutes later, an individual matching the description of the suspect was taken into custody.”
