Insp. Tait said it doesn’t appear the suspect and victim are known to each other, while he also couldn’t speak to other potential witnesses to the alleged assault.

Surveillance cameras at the NAC and city staff assisted in the investigation.

“It was investigated and shortly thereafter with the help of the City of Nanaimo we were able to make an arrest in a timely fashion.”

In an unrelated matter, Christopher Lee Hagen-McInnes, accused of placing a small camera in a NAC change room in January of last year, has yet to have the allegation against him tested in court.

He’s currently in custody.

In addition, Hagen-McInnes faces several other charges, including multiple alleged south Island property crimes.
