NANAIMO — Originating from a fractious council and inflamed by senior staff, the infancy of NanaimoNewsNOW’s local city hall reporting mirrored a seemingly endless reality television series.
Problems bubbling below the surface festered early during the 2014-2018 reign of Nanaimo City Council, spilling into a situation which garnered national headlines.
A leaked email outlining critical statements by then-mayor Bill McKay regarding his council colleagues surfaced late in 2016.
