Clippers lose titanic struggle in BCHL Finals to defending champion Brooks

May 23, 2026 | 12:01 AM

BROOKS — The Clippers lost a fourth straight overtime game to the Brooks Bandits to lose out in five games in the BCHL Finals.

After taking the first game by a score of 3-1 Nanaimo lost three straight 2-1 decisions and went down 4-3 in the series finale.

The Bandits have now won back to back BCHL championships while Nanaimo will have to wait at least another year to grab their sixth franchise title.

Game 5 started well for the Clippers with first period tallies from Patrick Fortune and Drew Roelofs shorthanded.

But the Bandits were razor sharp in the middle frame getting two goals in the opening six minutes to even the score off the sticks of Jack Rosensteel and Liam Fitzpatrick.

In every game of the series the score was tied at one point in the third period.

Brooks broke through to go up 3-2 on a net drive that bounced in off Frantisek Albrecht five minutes into the third in Game 5.

Nanaimo answered back with 48 seconds to play on a Sam Boisvert goal that happened with six attackers.

Five minutes into OT Jack Good rifled home the series winning goal from the left faceoff circle to send the home fans into a frenzy.

Clippers goalie Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau was brilliant in net making 43 saves.

Brooks outshot Nanaimo 47-28 and the Bandits had the game’s only power play.

After the game Bandits goalie Zach Zahara was given the Jeff Tambellini Trophy as the playoffs MVP.

He went 16-5 in the post season and finished with a goals against average under two.

Tanner Bruender ended the post season as the Clippers leading scorer with 20 points.

Bruender is also one of nine graduating Clippers who have played their final BCHL game.

Boisvert, Seguin-Lescarbeau, Will Subject, Jack Rimmer, Hayden Fechner, Landon Pappas, Owen Davies and Blake Jones all finished their careers at the conclusion of the playoffs.
