May 20, 2026 | 11:20 AM

A woman from Stanley Mission is facing a list of charges after attempting to deploy bear spray at officers.

The incident happened on May 18 shortly after 9:30 a.m. when RCMP officers in the community received word that a woman was in possession of a firearm at a residence. The firearm was not discharged, and the woman fled before officers arrived.

Police located the woman a short time later. She then ran from officers and subsequently tried to bear mace them, however, the canister was empty and none of the pursuing officers suffered any injuries. The woman was arrested while an imitation firearm was located nearby.

Phyllis Roberts, 28, has since been handed a list of charges that includes assaulting a police officer and possession of weapon for dangerous purpose.
