Clippers fall in overtime in second consecutive game

May 20, 2026 | 12:21 AM

BROOKS — Another 2-1 overtime game in the BCHL Finals and another Brooks Bandits victory over the Nanaimo Clippers.

In Game 3 after a scoreless first period Tanner Bruender banked a puck in behind Zach Zahara to give Nanaimo a 1-0 lead early in the second.

That stood up until the six minute mark of the final period when the Bandits converted a three way passing play to even the score with Isaac Johnson providing the finish.

Nanaimo earned a power play very late in regulation time which carried over into the overtime session.

The Clippers had several great chances turned aside by Zahara which set the stage for Jack Rosensteel to drive home the game winner just 2:10 into OT.

The final shots finished 37-34 in Nanaimo’s favour and both teams went 0/4 on the man advantage.

Both the Clippers Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau and the Bandits Zahara have been in the three stars of the game in all three games in the series.

Zahara has been the first star twice in a row stopping 75 of the last 77 shots he’s faced.

Seguin-Lescarbeau has stopped 81 of 85 in the Clipper crease in Games 2 and 3.

For the first time in the BCHL playoffs Nanaimo trails in a series with the Bandits up 2-1 heading into Game 4 on May 20.

Of note Nanaimo leading scorer Tanner Bruender has goals in all three games of the BCHL Finals, but he’s also been the only Clipper to score since Game 1.
