Clippers come heartbreakingly close but lose third straight OT game in BCHL Finals

May 20, 2026 | 11:22 PM

NANAIMO — The Clippers did almost everything a team can do to get a win over the Brooks Bandits in Game 4 of the BCHL Finals but lost a third straight 2-1 overtime game.

The Bandits have emerged victorious in games beyond 60 minutes in Games 2,3 and 4.

It felt very similar to the first three games in Game 4 with tight checking, great goaltending and another 2-1 scoreline.

Mathis Dufour scored his 10th goal of the playoffs for the Bandits in the first period to give the road team the lead.

Brooks also had an early first period tally washed out by a goalie interference call on a review.

That initial goal by Dufour held up until Charles Beland scored his playoff leading 14th goal of the post season late in the middle frame.

In the third period Sam Boisvert appeared to give the Clippers a 2-1 lead but that goal was overturned on a review.

Although the Clippers dominated the overtime session and outshot Brooks 15-6 in the period, a late chance for Harry Ahlberg ended being the game winner with 11 seconds left.

The Bandits did not have a power play in Game 4 while the Clippers went 1/4.

Zach Zahara and Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau were both brilliant in net as the shots finished 44-39 for Nanaimo.

The goalies have been game stars in all four games and Zahara has been the first star in three games in a row.

Brooks has an opportunity to win their second straight BCHL championship on home ice on May 22.

Nanaimo must win in Game 5, 6 and 7 to capture their first title in 19 years.

The series has been so tight that there has only been one two goal lead, and that was in the last minute of Game 1 when Tanner Bruender scored an empty net goal for Nanaimo.
