Alberni Harbour Quay gets upgrade

The Harbour Quay will be receiving some much-needed upgrades this year.

City Councillor Charles Mealey says the community hub and tourist destination is in desperate need of a facelift.

“This needs a refresh,” he said. “It’s 40 years old and looking tired and still supposedly a focal point of our downtown in our community so I’ll be supporting this, much like the reasons that Councilorl Haggard and the mayor and Councillor Solda gave; it’s a long time coming.”

Members of City Council voted unanimously at the Committee of the Whole meeting on Monday to invest $400,000 in federal funds into placemaking renewal at the Harbour Quay.
