City reclaims Clutesi Haven Marina

The City of Port Alberni is taking back two marine areas previously leased to the Port Alberni Port Authority.

The city had hoped to sell Clutesi Marina and boatlaunch, as well as a small dock at the Harbour Quay to the Port Authority but the two sides couldn’t come to terms.

Port Authority CEO Zoran Knezevich says the deal makes sense for the city.

“We have been managing the Clutesi Haven Marina for over 50 years, and have spent a lot of time and effort and brought it to a good level, but maybe the City wants to take it to the next level and rightfully so in my opinion,” he said. “We totally understand where City is coming from and I would have done the same thing if I was in their shoes.”

Knezevich said current tenants shouldn’t notice any disruption during the transition.
