‘It’s so frustrating:’ Nanaimo restaurant responds to mice allegations
NANAIMO — Representatives of a popular Nanaimo restaurant is pushing back on photos circulating on social media allegedly showing mice in their kitchen, as well as droppings being left behind on countertops and on food.
On Sept. 13, an anonymous post in the Nanaimo Reddit group showed what claimed to be mice in a container of sauce, two mice on a pizza tray, and several photos showing mouse droppings in the kitchen, with the user claiming the photos were taken while working at Milano’s Ristorante on Aulds Rd.
Milano’s owner Romi Malhodra told NanaimoNewsNOW they believe a disgruntled former employee may be behind the posts using staged photos.
“It’s so frustrating, you know. What can we do? We can do our best, right? It’s our business, it’s not a small business…it’s a big business; we spent millions of dollars for this. Why would we do something wrong with the business….(the user) has nothing to lose, but we have everything to lose.”
