41st annual Toy Run roars into town

The 41st annual Port Alberni Toy Run roars into town tomorrow, with hundreds of riders contributing thousands of dollars towards Alberni Valley children’s charities and family events, and filling up local hotels and restaurants.
Society chair Marnie Grimes says the Toy Run is all about the Alberni community, and she is thankful for the community’s support.
“If it wasn’t for the community we wouldn’t be able to do this, and if it wasn’t for the community we wouldn’t be doing this,” she said. “I am pretty sure that I’ve ridden 19 out of the last 20 years, and 19 ofthe last 20 years I have cried coming into town. It is such an overwhelming feeling. It’s just love.”
Main roads throughout Port Alberni will be blocked for possibly half-an-hour from 12:30 to 1pm Saturday as the motorcycles make their way to Glenwood Centre for a weekend of activities.
