Trio charged with first degree murder of Nanaimo woman

NANAIMO — Murder charges apply against three people in connection with the death of Wendy Head, originally thought to be a victim of the province’s ongoing toxic drug crisis.

On Friday, Oct. 18 the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) approved first degree murder charges against Kehar Garry Sangha, Lily Irene Lindbergh and Tyler Stephen Elrix.

The charges relate to the death of the 52-year-old Head, who died in an Autumnwood Dr. home in Nanaimo on March 7, 2023.

The death in the home, located off central Nanaimo’s Labieux Rd., was initially determined to be an overdose and not suspicious, according to RCMP.

However, several months later Head’s death was upgraded to a homicide, with Nanaimo Mounties stating “further information has come to light.”

Nanaimo RCMP issued a news release regarding the revelation in hopes of advancing the investigation.

Police said they were aware of people on Vancouver Island who had information which could further their probe.

Sangha, 59, and Lindbergh, 44, remain in pre-trial lockup, while Elrix, 41, had not been arrested as of Monday, according to court records.

An arrest warrant has been issued for the arrest of Elrix.

All three of the accused are from Duncan, according to the RCMP’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC (CFSEU).

Both Sangha and Lindbergh were also charged last Friday with unlawfully counselling with undercover police to commit murder which was not committed.

The charges relate to conduct allegedly occurring between Sept. 1 and Sept 30 2023 in Duncan and Langford, according to the BCPS.

According to court records, Sangha and Lindbergh have bail hearings scheduled for Oct. 29 in relation to the undercover police charges.
