Canada’s Auger-Aliassime ends ATP Tour losing streak with win over Fucsovics
ANTWERP — Felix Auger-Aliassime’s losing streak on the ATP Tour came to an end Wednesday with a 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2 win over Marton Fucsovics in second-round action at the European Open.
Auger-Aliassime’s last tour victory was on Aug. 16, a 6-3, 6-1 win over Casper Ruud in the second round of the Cincinnati Open.
The world No. 21 from Montreal then proceeded to drop his next four tour matches, including three to opponents outside the top 50.
Auger-Aliassime, who is seeded third in Antwerp and had a first-round bye, appeared destined for another frustrating match after failing to convert a break in the sixth game before losing the first set in a tiebreaker.
