Ahousaht, B.C., declares state of emergency after weekend deaths
AHOUSAT, B.C. — Ahousaht, B.C., has declared a state of emergency after two “tragic losses” in the community over the weekend.
In a post to social media Ahousaht Administration says there will be a heightened police presence in the community and roads will be closed starting at 9 p.m.
One of the deaths has been confirmed by police while the Ahousaht Administration said the community was also grieving the loss of another young community member.
The administration says wellness supports are being made available to residents of the community, which is located on Flores Island about 18 kilometres from Tofino.
