Crash snarls northbound Hwy 19 traffic through Nanoose Bay

UPDATE: By 1:30 p.m. Friday the accident scene on Hwy. 19 at Northwest Bay Rd. had been cleared. Northbound congestion is expected to ease with both lanes re-opened.

EARLIER — A multi-vehicle crash is causing significant disruptions impacting northbound vehicular flow on Highway 19 on Friday afternoon.

DriveBC cameras show the incident happened at the intersection of Northwest Bay Rd. At the Petro Canada service station, resulting in single-lane movement heading north.

As a result, there is no detour around the scene, leading to substantial backups to Lantzville as of 1:10 p.m. on Friday.
