Coulson Aviation inked a $400 million dollar deal with Australia’s New South Wales Rural Fire Service to provide firefighting aircraft for the next 10 years.
The Coulson team will oversee a fleet of 13 aircraft, including a 737 fireliner, two Cessna Citations, six Bell-412 helicopters, a CH-47 Chinook, and a Beechcraft Super King Air.
Coulson will employ more than 125 people to manage, operate, and maintain their entire fleet as they become the biggest emergency services operator in Australia.
Company CEO Wayne Coulson says they also just signed a deal with the Province of BC to provide firefighting resources.
“We did get an award for contract from the Province of BC for one of our helicopters that starts next week,” he said. “We’re building that bridge with BC and they would be a potential customer for some of these Australian assets as we look to bring them over to North America.”
Coulson crews have been working in Australia for the past 5 years, and during the 2022-23 bushfire season, they completed more than 340 missions and rescued 113 people.
