Fire destroys mill building

Firefighters from throughout the Alberni Valley responded to a fire beside the Catalyst Mill yesterday afternoon.

When city firefighters first arrived the small wooden building was already fully engulfed in flames.

According to workers, the building was used as a lunchroom but had lately become popular among the nearby homeless population.

Fire investigators will be on scene today.
