Vulnerable streetperson attacked

A 30-year old Port Alberni man has been found guilty of sexual assault after being spotted by police on top of a streetperson on Third Avenue two years ago.

It was 3:30 am on August 13, 2022 when a police officer on patrol spotted Jeremy Stimpson on top of an unconscious woman known to be extremely vulnerable due to mental health and addiction issues.

Five witnesses testified during the two-day trial that ended with Judge Alexander Wolf declaring Stimpson guilty late yesterday afternoon.

He will remain on bail under strict conditions before being sentenced later this summer.
