UPDATE: Nanaimo RCMP arrest wanted man with history of violence & unpredictable behaviour

NANAIMO — On Thursday, April 4 Nanaimo RCMP announced Cody Edward Ranger had been arrested, one day after issue an appeal for his whereabouts.

 

EARLIER— The public is being asked to help in locate a wanted man described by police as violent.

Cody Edward Ranger, 36, was charged with two sets of serious offences for a pair of alleged recent incidents in Nanaimo.

He was charged with assault, assault by choking and two counts of mischief under $5,000 for an alleged incident on Feb. 6.

Following his arrest and subsequent release, Ranger was charged with assault by choking, uttering threats and two counts of breach of his release order for an alleged incident on March 19.

“Ranger is considered violent and may be in possession of firearms. He is extremely unpredictable and if seen, do not approach but call 911,” Nanaimo RCMP stated in a news release.

He’s described as a Caucasian man, 5,9″, 170 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Ranger has a court date scheduled in provincial court in Nanaimo for Thursday, April 11.

Anyone with information on Ranger is called to call 911 or the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345, file #2024-8389.

According to court records, Ranger’s limited criminal record in the province includes an impaired driving conviction in Nanaimo related to a 2008 incident, and failing to stop at the scene of an accident in Port Alberni in 2017.
