QUALICUM BEACH — Three people were seriously injured in a pair of incidents along Hwy. 19A overnight.

Oceanside RCMP were called out to Hwy. 19A, just north of Qualicum Beach between Seacroft Rd. and Evanson Rd., around 3 a.m. on Saturday March 2.

A vehicle driven by a woman had slid off the roadway and hit a pole, likely aided by slippery road conditions with snow and hail in the area at the time. A man in a separate vehicle stopped on scene and made efforts to help the woman.

“While both drivers were standing on the side of the roadway, a third vehicle collided with the woman’s vehicle and struck both individuals,” a release from Oceanside RCMP noted.

The drivers of all three vehicles were taken to hospital for further care. The man originally rendering assistance suffered serious, life threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the third vehicle is the subject of an impaired driving investigation.

Detours were in place around the incident until mid-Saturday morning as crash investigators worked on the scene.

No further information on any of the victims of the crash was made available by Oceanside RCMP, nor descriptions of vehicles.

Anyone with information about the incident, or the timeline leading up to the crash, is asked to contact the Oceanside RCMP detachment at 250 248 6111.
