MP returns from long winter session

Courtenay – Alberni MP Gord Johns is heading home for the holidays after an eventful winter session in Ottawa.
He said he’s happy his party made progress towards Dental and Pharmacare despite a Conservative filibuster that attempted to stop Parliament.
“It’s been busy trying to get a lot of help for our riding, meanwhile Conservatives have been playing games and pulling stunts that are preventing work from getting done,” he said. “We’re saving Canadians $1300 with dental care while the Conservatives vote against the National school food program for hungry children. It’s shameful.”
Johns said currently one-third of Canadians don’t have a dental plan and 9 million people will finally get dental care.
The Dental and Pharmacare plan was part of the agreement the NDP made with the Liberal Minority Government to prevent a confidence vote in the house and a possible return to the polls.
