‘Cram-A-Cruiser’ holiday donation event sets up in Ladysmith

LADYSMITH — Front-line emergency responders in Ladysmith are asking for donations to help those in need this holiday season.

Ladysmith RCMP, in partnership with Ladysmith Fire Rescue and local paramedics with the BC Ambulance Service, are putting on Cram-A-Cruiser, where non-perishable food and other donations are accepted at Country Grocer’s parking lot at 1020 1st Ave. on Saturday, Dec, 2 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Ladysmith RCMP acting detachment commander Sgt. Tim Desaulniers told NanaimoNewsNOW hopefully those with means donate generously, noting many people are struggling to sustain themselves these days.

“The economy is horrible right now, everybody’s situation is different but it seems like it’s affecting everybody – people that you wouldn’t expect need help need it.”

A police cruiser will be stationed at the parking lot waiting to be crammed with a variety of donations.

Core non-perishable food staples like canned meats, veggies, fruits and instant noodles are sought after, as are items like school snacks, dish soap, and cooking oil.

All donated items will go to the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association (LRCA) to be distributed to those in need.

In addition to non-perishable foods, Sgt. Desaulniers provided a couple of additional giving ideas.

“We’re also glad to take cash donations, grocery cards or whatever people feel is appropriate to help the LRCA out.”
