NANAIMO — The Clippers spent most of their game against the Bulldogs battling back.

With goals by Fischer O’Brien and Jax Wismer in the first six minutes of the night, Nanaimo was behind the eight ball.

The Clippers first goal came with three minutes left in the second period on a shorthanded effort from Connor Haynes.

On the same power play the Bulldogs responded with a Cam Van Sickle shot to take a 3-1 lead to the locker room after 40 minutes.

The third period was all Clippers early.

Cole Lonsdale scored on a power play deflection and 32 seconds later Joel Plante tied the game at 3-3.

Nanaimo outshot the Bulldogs 17-8 in the final stanza but couldn’t break the tie.

Brady MacIsaac scored just after the halfway point of the period to earn the Bulldogs a 4-3 victory.

The final shots were 39-29 for Nanaimo with Callum Tung getting the win in goal over Tom Kiesewetter.

The Clippers are now 0-3 against the Bulldogs, who they will face an additional four times in the month of November.

Nanaimo’s next action is at the BCHL Showcase in Seattle with a game Oct. 25 at 7:50 p.m. versus Trail and Oct. 26 at 4:50 p.m. against Prince George.
